weekend challenge

Hi there everyone,

My turn for a challenge. Thought I would share a card that is going to be for this weeks class.

I saw this flower somewhere and thought it would be fun to make...

First get together the bits you need, to make this one I have punched 8 aprox 1 1/2" circles and cut a motif spellbinder circle...you just need one bigger than the little ones...IYKWIM. then your papers and card if making a card.

Now fold each of the small circles in half twice, as per the pic (sorry the flash was a bit bright) then you just fold on one half of the circle from where the fold lines are...check out the pic, bit hard to explain.

Now fold those bits back toward the middle..check the pic....then all you do it find the middle of your large circle, and sitck them all down....looks great and very easy.

This is the finished card, just popped a brad in the middle to finish the flower.

Please have a go and share with us what you come up with. Have a wonderful weekend.

Marg.

Thursday is all about Colour...

Hi all on this frosty cool morning,

I thought because it was so cold today (and winter is only just starting... LOL - how am I going to be when June/July come?) I thought that I would give you a nice warm colour combination to create a layout with.

Don't these colours just make you feel warmer????

So using this colour combination I would like you to create  a project that is warm.  It can be  a card, OTP or a layout.

Have fun, and hope you feel warm...

Thursday Challenge - Reflections

With Anzac Day upon us, I decided it was time to do some reflecting! That's it...the whole challenge! Create a layout reflecting on anything at all!

This is one I did with a photo I stole from my cousin's Facebook page this morning! This is my Pop who was a Prisoner of War.

I'd like to add more to this page, hopefully finding out about the time and place of the actual photo, but my dad's away so i will add it later.

And this one I did earlier this week, reflecting on all the times my youngest has been up on his dad's shoulders and how he will soon have to stop as he's getting too big :(

Nice and easy, right!? Get to it then!! It's almost the end of the month and you want to be in the running for the prizes I'm sure!?........

Happy scrapping,
Rach

Scrap Factor Wk 8 - The final Challenge

This week's challenge is an emotional challenge... Because it is the final Challenge for Scrap Factor... (remember it's not too late to join in - so if you want to whip up 8 layouts one for each week there is still time!)

I would like you to choose an emotion (preferably one that is used in a song title.. LOL just to make it about music!)

I have chosen my emotion as BRAVE - sung by Kate Cebrano.

I was given a photo from 1999, when DS3 was doing his first lot of swimming lessons, and going to the deep end for the first time. (Recently most of these kids, now young adults have done their bronze medallions, and unfortunately didn't have a camera handy when they were all standing along the edge of the pool, might have to set it up for next season when they requalify again)

Okay the criteria:

1. You must use patterned paper that is featured in one of the Designer Kits (so even if you haven't purchased the kit - you can still play along)

2. It must feature the song title which is about an emotion.

3. A photo that is over 5 years old should also be on your layout.

4. Your layout should include hand doodling and/or journalling, some sort of bling, and some sort of fabric.

Have fun creating!

A reminder about the scoring:

* Completing the layout to the challenge guidelines = 5 points.

* X-bonus (for completing extra music related challenge in your creation) = 2 points. Please state in the notes when you upload how you have met the x-bonus.

* Fast Extra Point (for being first to load into the gallery) = 1 point.

* Double-Up Points (If people complete a second one creation based on the theme - maximum of two entries permitted per challenge per week. The X-bonus applies if you comple that on the 2nd creation too). = 5 points (plus X-Bonus 2 points)

NOTE: Double page layouts count as one for this competition, so you must complete a second new layout for that theme to get the Double-Up points.

So that gives a maximum of 14 points per week to be won, or 15 if you are the super speedy one to get your page up first in that week's gallery!

Another challenge for you ...

Yes, it's my turn to set a wee challenge for you today.

Hopefully you will find a little 'me time' and be creative.

If you can't find the time for an hour uninterrupted scrapping time, try blocks of 10 minutes.

10 minutes to get out all your bits and pieces and leave them sitting in a pile somewhere safe.

10 minutes to search for just the right photos.

10 minutes thinking time while you are preparing the veges for tonight's dinner.

And then ... 10 minutes to put it all together - or longer ... but it's amazing how much you can do in small blocks if you have to.

It's been a wee while since I have scrapped using black and white and purple and I love this colour combination, especially when you throw in a little green as well.

So that's it ... some black and white, some purple and green and as you can see in my layout I have also used a little turquoise, so it's only fair that I let you do that too.

And ... and isn't there always an 'and' ... you can see that I have used a doily and if you look really closely you might be able to see some transparency in amongst the layers.

So not only, do you need to use the colour combination, you also need to use some type of doily and a transparency as well - if you are thinking what you can use ... what about a doily shape, a lacy edge, packaging for a transparency and if all else fails, a piece of old overhead projector film works wonders.

And my layout ...

Happy creating everyone.

Tuesday's Blog Challenge

Morning Blog Readers,

Today's challenge is going to be a blind scrapping challenge, I know how you all enjoy these challenges.

So...

What you need is

1 piece of cardstock
1 piece of patterned paper roughly 7 x 8 inches
1 large die cut shape

1 photo 5 x 7
1 photo 3 x 3

1 journalling card

embellishments to make the layout your own

Taking the patterned paper, adhere to the centre of your cardstock (or slightly to the left of your layout if you wish)

Take your large die cut shape and adhere to the top right hand of the patterned paper.

Take your large photo and adhere so that it overlaps the die cut and the patterned paper.

Take your journalling card and place it underneath the die cut shape so that it overlaps the bottom right hand corner of the patterned paper.

Take your small photo and adhere to the top left hand corner of the photo, overlapping approximately 1/4 inch from the top and left hand corner over the photo.

Place your title underneath your large photo.

Add embellishments to make the layout your own...

Have fun creating and don't forget to share in the gallery.

The Scrap Factor Week 7 - Duets

This week's challenge is all about Duet's.

1. Create a page using two colours predominantly (black and white are allowed also and don't count towards the colours).

2. Create embellishments in pairs. (You can still group them, but if you use say hearts, you should use two hearts, if it's buttons, use two buttons, etc)

3. Use two photos for this challenge.

4. Use a two word title!

5. X-BONUS - if you include a song title or lyrics on your page, you'll be eligible also for the X-Bonus points! Make sure you note this on your upload to the gallery.

Scrap Factor - week 5 - a little bit country

Do you have the Scrap Factor ???

Another week done and dusted and we are now up to week 5 and this week, I think it's time for a little bit of country pop.

And a big country pop singer - you can't go past is a favourite of mine and that would be Shania Twain.

No one needs to know - the title of this layout is the name of one of Shania Twain’s songs.

So, you need to put together a layout along the following lines:

Use a title of a song or you can use lyrics in your journaling

Monochromatic layout in my case I was thinking the barren outback, sandy, dry, dirt

Lots of texture, I’ve used gesso, mesh ribbon, layering, distressing and inking and hessian fabric flowers, note the jute centres, and a little muslin fabric

My hidden journaling which is tucked into the envelope reads : I love to read and what I love to read the most is a soppy romance book, one that takes me to faraway lands, a long time ago.  I can bury myself in an historical romance book and quite happily sit there, lie there or whatever, lose all track of time and keep reading until I am finished.  Sssshhh ... don’t tell anyone.  No one needs to know!

So there you have it ... your Scrap Factor challenge for this week.

Don't forget to upload to the gallery - I can't do the linky thing here as I am a little bit techno challenged and I'm nothing but honest.

(luckily I can jump in and create it for you xxx Mish)

Happy creating everyone.
