Weekend Challenge - Blind Scrapping Recipe!

This weekend I have a blind scrapping challenge for you.

You will need a 5 x 7 photo (portrait)
2x3 photo x 2 (portrait)
Cardstock for background
1 piece of pattened paper cut into a 10 inch circle or a circle die cut paper
1 piece of co-ordinated paper cut into a 4 inch square
1 strip 8 inches x ½ inch patterned paper
Embellishments to suit layout
Flowers, hat pin, alphabets, ribbon, and the like

Cut 1/3 off the bottom of your circle - then adhere on the cardstock approx ½ inch from the top of the page.

Take your 4 inch squared piece of paper and cut into a shaped journalling box
I use the background of a Jenni Bowlin Button to trace around for mine - you could use a chipboard bracket to make the edges of your box, or simply use a scallop punch.

Adhere this square to your circle die cut, on the left so that it just overlaps the edge of your layout.

Place your 5 x 7 photo - so that it just overlaps this shaped box. Then place your two smaller photos, so the tops of the photo overlap the bottom of the shaped box.

Now take the 8 inch strip and place across the bottom of your photos and cover where the base of the circle meets the cardstock.

Now it is time to make the layout your own - using alphas, flowers and the rest of your embellishments.

Make a cluster of flowers, and embellishments on the right hand lower corner of your photo.  Place your title along the bottom of your photos. Add any further embellishments to make this layout yours!

Here are a couple of sneak peeks of my layout - which features the June Designer Kit and will be revealed in the Newsletter

Share your layouts in the MAY CHALLENGE GALLERY by Midnight Sunday Night to be in the draw for the prize at the end of May.

A little more to tease you...

Stay tuned for the next weekend challenge which will be posted sometime today!

A First for Me, A First for you!

Yipppeeee! My first ever blog challenge!! And it's a sketch of course because I just love sketches when you find yourself a little stuck for ideas!
So here is the first ever official sketch that is all mine!!!!

But  a sketch on it's own would be too easy wouldn't it?? So my challenge to you is to:

1.  Create a layout based on the sketch ("based" on, so you can flip it, reverse it, swap circles for flowers,     whatever!); AND
2.  Use a technique somewhere on the lo that you have never used before!  In my example, my "first" is "stamping" with a piece of corrugated cardboard, that I tore from my Pizza Delivery Box.

Easy peasy!
Upload your lo's to the Gallery HERE

Upload your lo by Sunday night to go into the monthly prize draw.
And don't forget all Newsletter and Blog Challenges are eligible to go into the monthly prize draw so GET SCRAPPING!!!!!!

Weekly Blog Update

Well it must be time for a make and do project me thinks!

This week, I thought I would show you how to make an album using A4 envelopes!

I made this one for my parents who did a tour of NZ a couple of years back.

Requirements:

3 or 4 A4 envelopes (you can use bigger or smaller if you like - but this size make a great small album easy to fit into your travel pack)
3 pieces of cardstock cut slightly smaller than the envelopes.
2 Sheets of hard card - ie packing board or chipboard - cut to fit the size of half the envelope. This makes the cover firm
Embellishments
Patterned papers (scraps are excellent for this)
Ribbons
and anything else you would like to add

Step 1:

Place your first envelope out flat with the flap facing right

Place the two sheets of card into the envelope & Seal the flap. The card should be able to move so that you are able to punch your holes in the centre (a later step)

Then layer 1 sheet of your cardstock

Then add another envelope with the flap facing left

Then add another piece of cardstock

Then another envelope with the flap facing right

Finish with a final sheet of cardstock

Fold the whole thing in half (I found it was easier to do singularly)

Mark the centre line with 3 evenly spaced marks. Punch  holes using a Crop-o-dile or "Anywhere Hole Punch".  Thread ribbon through the holes to hold your book together.

Decorate each page - and there you have it! A travel album with loads of pockets to fit momentos that you collect along the way. Remembering when you decorate the envelopes if you put any brads or the like through it it will stop your envelopes from working IYKWIM.  I found it easier to cut my Paper to the size of the page then decorate each page before adhering to the envelope.

Hope you have fun putting this together - and don't forget to share your creations in the gallery.

Weekend challenge ...

Yep, siree ... it's Friday again. The week has disappeared, just like that and it's time for the weekend and hopefully there will be a little time to be creative.

This weekend I thought we would have a colour challenge.

So here we go ... with a little help from Mish ... she did the colour thingymajig for me ...

A little white, a little blue, a little orange and a little brown.

More than happy to see a little black in there as well.

I'm sure that you will be able to work with these colours - no problems at all ... so ... along with the colour combo challenge how about we add a little something ... you need to use more than one photo and do something to your photos. If you are clever, feel free to photoshop your pics and pop a border of sorts on them ... or be like me ... I grabbed a piece of sand paper and sanded lightly around the edges and then used pine cone ink.

Oh wow ... another layout with DS with old photos ... I will add journalling to this layout, I've got a feeling these pics were taken when he had just turned 7 ...

Happy creating and don't forget to add your layout to the gallery or link back here.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Gallery Tech Issues - Wed 12/5

Just a quick note to say we are experiencing some tech issues wtih the CPC gallery at the moment, but we hope to have it up and running ASAP.

Thanks for being patient.

Monday 10 May 2010

Your challenge this week ...

is a sketch ...

Okay, so I'm not the world's best sketcher and I know it ... and don't ask me to get all clever and whip something up drawing-wise on the computer ... this is the best I can do people!

So use it somehow and I look forward to seeing your creativity.

And I've been a little creative as well and whipped up a layout for you ...

OMG ... this photo was taken a few years ago, when DS was just a little bit younger .. but a wee master Lego creator he was. He would spend hours and hours and hours creating with his Lego. He had some imagination !!! Still does ... lol.

Look forward to seeing your creativity and don't forget to pop your creations in the gallery to be in the draw to win a voucher to go shopping in the CPC shop.

Introducing...

This month we welcome to the Design Team RACHAEL DONEY. Rach hails from Esperance where she has lived for the past 23 years. 16 years ago settled down and married the love of her life, together they are raising 4 gorgeous children,  a daughter and 3 sons. Rach manages the local school canteen to support her scrapping obsession!

Rach began scrapping whilst pregnant with her youngest son. Because we do not have a bricks and mortar store in Esperance, and there wasn't a scrapping group formed then either, Rach says she basically taught herself to scrap which was very simplistic, imagine 4 x 6 photos, rounded corners, plain matting on patterned paper.  But that all changed when Marg (who was then my Enjo Manager) invited her to a camp in Bruce Rock with 100 strangers! She went along and learned so much. Rach still continues to go to the Scrap Camps being held in Bruce Rock, once or twice  a year just to learn new ideas and techniques and meet new people.

Rach doesn't consider her scrapping to be of any particular style, saying it changes constantly.  She likes to keep her layouts simple, and tries to do her simple very well.  Rach says she is a typical Capricorn, and likes to keep all her stuff for a rainy day! But she says she loves patterned papers - and has way too many, but always never has the one that she needs!

Rach says she loves a challenge, especially as then she doesn't have to think about where to start!

We look forward to seeing more of Rach's wonderful work gracing our newsletters!
