Embellishment Class No 2 - Paper Pieced Teddy.

This is another of the items we made in our first Embellishment class last week.
They are soo cute, have a go, will look great on a card or layout.

Paper Pieced Teddy.

You will need -
*  Stamp and ink  (I used a Birch Baby Stamp set and black Stazon ink)
*  Selection of PP and card stock. (I used BG Friutcake papers, some brown hand made paper, some other scraps of pp and White card.)
*  Punches or Nestabilities ( I used the Nestabilities Ovals and Scalloped ovals)
*  Some inks or liquid chalks ( I have used Colorbox liquid chalks and a dauber)
*  3d foam and double sided tape.
*  Good sharp Craft knife or precision scissors
*  Glue stick, pen or glue pad.

Now stamp your image twice onto white - 1 being the main card that is then cut with Oval Spellbinder.
twice onto brown, once onto the two pp's, and then the feet twice onto another paper.
Cut out each bit.

Then you just start sticking him back together on your main card, leaving the extra head and feet, these you will add 3d foam dots to before sticking on.

Now cut your ovals and scalloped ovals using your Spellbinder die, I have used my trusty Cuttlebug...did I tell you that I really love the Cuttlebug...well if not....I love my Cuttlebug.
Would use it almost everyday.
Use your liquid chalks around the all the ovals, then use a dauber to put a soft edge in towards your teddy, doesn't show up very well on this pic, sorry.

Now almost done. Stick your brown with d/s tape to your large Scalloped oval, and your teddy to the small oval, then using 3d foam stick the 2 bits together....and this is what you will have.
Is he cute or what??!! Barbie has already used the one she did at the class on a layout below.
Thanks for dropping in,
I would love some feedback as to if anyone would like me to do more of these step by step tutorials, please leave a comment if you would like me to.
bye for now,
Marg.

Handmade Flowers Mrs Frizz Style

The flowers that I made in my examples were using a 6x6 BG Capella pad from the CPC shop.

I’ve punched out a dozen circles using two different sized punches.

Depending on how many layers I’ve used.

Bottom layer can be a round circle.  Distress edges and ink – sometimes I also completely scrunch up and half-pie flatten out before inking.

Next circle ... I tear into five segments ... not completely into the middle though [say from the edge in about 1 cm or thereabouts – I play really] ... I then distress and curl each ripped edge a little bit ... sometimes I also put in another tiny tear into the edge of each segment and I mean, tiny, and I curl that a little as well.  I then grab my ink pad and ink edges and tweak a little with the petals.

Top layer or one of the top layers, depending on how many you are using. Do the same again and tweak a little more after distressing and inking.

I’ve then put lace on the very top and then Prima bling on top of that.  Sometimes I also use my paper piercer and thread through stamens.  On some flowers I use buttons, all sorts of toppings.

Between each of the layers I have used pop up foam adhesive to give them height.

So there you have it ... happy creating.

Weekly Blog Update

Well it must be time for a make and do project me thinks!

This week, I thought I would show you how to make an album using A4 envelopes!

I made this one for my parents who did a tour of NZ a couple of years back.

Requirements:

3 or 4 A4 envelopes (you can use bigger or smaller if you like - but this size make a great small album easy to fit into your travel pack)
3 pieces of cardstock cut slightly smaller than the envelopes.
2 Sheets of hard card - ie packing board or chipboard - cut to fit the size of half the envelope. This makes the cover firm
Embellishments
Patterned papers (scraps are excellent for this)
Ribbons
and anything else you would like to add

Step 1:

Place your first envelope out flat with the flap facing right

Place the two sheets of card into the envelope & Seal the flap. The card should be able to move so that you are able to punch your holes in the centre (a later step)

Then layer 1 sheet of your cardstock

Then add another envelope with the flap facing left

Then add another piece of cardstock

Then another envelope with the flap facing right

Finish with a final sheet of cardstock

Fold the whole thing in half (I found it was easier to do singularly)

Mark the centre line with 3 evenly spaced marks. Punch  holes using a Crop-o-dile or "Anywhere Hole Punch".  Thread ribbon through the holes to hold your book together.

Decorate each page - and there you have it! A travel album with loads of pockets to fit momentos that you collect along the way. Remembering when you decorate the envelopes if you put any brads or the like through it it will stop your envelopes from working IYKWIM.  I found it easier to cut my Paper to the size of the page then decorate each page before adhering to the envelope.

Hope you have fun putting this together - and don't forget to share your creations in the gallery.

Cuttlebug/Nestabilities Christmas Card

Thought I would share with you how I put together this Christmas Card using the Cuttlebug, Nestabilities and my Crop-a-dile.

Materials :
  • Scraps of pp - I used some Basic Grey Fruitcake that I had left after doing a Kaisercraft Christmas Wreath. (pics in the gallery)
  • White card - scored and folded (I used a basic 6 x 4 card)
  • Piece of cardstock 51/2" x 3 3/4"
  • 4 chipboard squares
  • Small piece of card to stamp greeting on
  • Eyelets and ribbon
  • Double sided tape and 3d foam

Tools:

  • Cuttlebug with Swiss Dot Embossing Folder
  • Spellbinder Nestabilities - Inverted Scalloped Squares and Birds
  • Craft knife and Scissors
  • Crop-a-dile for setting eyelets
  • White gel pen
  • White and pinecone ink pads
  • Sand paper
  • Greetings Stamp and Black Stazon Ink.

Ok first I cut the inverted scalloped square from the top section of the cardstock. Just come down from the top no more that 1". Using your white gel pen doodle around the edges and lightly ink edges with your white ink pad.

Cover the 4 chipboard squares with paper, if you have never covered chipboard the easiest way to do this is to cover the chipboard with glue (I used a glue stick) then stick onto the back of your paper. When dry trim with your craft knife. Sand all the edges to take off any overhanging bits.

Take your Crop-a-dile and punch your holes for the eyelets (tip - if you set your quide they will both be in exactly the same place) then set your eyelets.

Place your cardstock piece over your card to see where the chipboard will go, then stick your squares down with double sided tape.

Thread your ribbon throught the eyelets and tie at the front.

Put your 3d tape on the back of the cardstock and adhere it to the card.

Now using the Cuttlebug again cut out one of the Nestabilities Birds with another scrap of matching paper. Emboss it then with the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder. Ink the edges with a pinecone ink (no girl should be without at least 4 pinecones on the go at any one time..lol.).

Put some 3d foam behind the bird and stick it in the middle of the chipboard square. Give him an eye with a small rhinestone.

Stamp a greeting onto some white cardstock, trim close, ink with pinecone then matt with another scrap from your PP. Stick the greeting to bottom corner of the chip squares.

This card design could be used for any occasion, using up some of your papers left from your projects. If you make one please share with us in the gallery.

Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas to you all.

Marg.

Julie’s working with Chipboard....

Get a mini album base. There are lots of these chipboard based albums available in the store.

Paint any extra chip board - I have used some tim Holtz distress crackle - -mmmm tim holtz - http://www.countrypapercraft.com.au/index1.html

Cover the chip board – front and back with some patterned paper – I have used some beautiful daisy bucket paper - http://www.countrypapercraft.com.au/index1.html

Then work out where you want to put some photos

Add the painted chippes and some rubons – I have used the lovely new Kaiser ones - http://www.countrypapercraft.com.au/index1.html

Now put your album in order – I have used the plastic packet that the chip album came in to make a front and back cover

Now you need to put it all together – I have used one of my favourite tools - the crop a dile - http://www.countrypapercraft.com.au/index1.html

I have used hinged rings – they are great with bulky mini albums and lets me add ribbons etc to finish it all off.

Add some ribbons – to make it look pretty

Add a few extra embellishments and you're done…..

Feb Kit step by step and sketch

Hi....do you like the new kit?? Do you love the idea of the add on kit?? i know I do!
It gives you so much more to play with and to help make your LO's 'pop'.

I have created a step by step for you using this gorgeous kit and add-on.
I have also created my own sketch as well. i hope you like it.
Here goes.......

Step one.
Using the threaded water punch (available from the shop) create a scalloped edge down the side of the ‘Sugar Cookie’ paper. You then need to trim this strip so that it is 23cms long. If you don’t have this punch use a different one or create your own scalloped edge. I have also gone along and punched another hole in between the other holes. Here is a photo to show you what I mean. Sorry for the terrible picture!!

Step two.
Using the same paper cut a strip 2cms wide x 28cms long You need to them glue both pieces to the white cardstock. I have done it so the scallop is pink and the strip orange. The pink strip is 2.5cms from left hand side and the orange butts up against the pink, making sure equal amounts top and bottom.Step three.
Using the butterscotch paper cut a strip 10cms wide by 25cms long. Glue this piece down (hearts side up) so that it slightly overlaps the orange and again equal amounts top and bottom.

Step four.
Using the Raspberry Cream paper cut a piece 11cms x 15cms. Glue this down (pinky side up) so that it overlaps the last piece by about 3cms and is about 2 cms lower down the page. See the photo if I am confusing you! LOL.

Step five.
Again using the raspberry cream paper cut a strip 4cms wide by 15cms wide. Stick it down (striped side up) running horizontally and butting up against the last piece you stuck down. Again see photo.

Step six.
Now its time to stick your photo on. In my sketch I have drawn it for one photo, but in my example I have used two. Use as many as you want.

Step seven.
Now you need to stick on your title.

Step eight.
Now embellish and make it your own!!!
The first photo shows the Lo using the kit.
The second photo shows the LO using the kit and the add-on kit.
