Tuesday's a challenge day for you

Today my challenge to you is to create using a scrapping recipe...

I would like you to use the word WINTER
as your inspiration

So with that in mind

Take 1 piece of cardstock
A strip of patterned paper 3 inches wide by 10 inches long
A circle cut from co-ordinating patterned paper about 8 inches in diameter
1 strip of patterned paper 1.5inches wide by 12 inches long
1 strip of patterned paper 1 inch wide by 12 inches long

1 photo 5 inches wide by 7 inches long - in portrait

You can ink and distress as you go along if you wish...

Adhere the 3 x 10 strip to the left hand side of your cardstock about 1.5 inches from the left
Adhere the circle to the cardstock so that it slightly overlaps the 3 x 10 strip
Adhere your photo where the circle overlaps the strip in the 2.5 inches from the top of the page
Adhere the 1.5 strip across your page so that it covers the bottom edge of your photo
Adhere the 1 strip across the top of the larger strip so that there is more of the strip showing on the bottom than the top

Place your title across the top of the two strips so that it is on the right of the photo

Embellish and make the layout your own.

Look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery

Have a great Tuesday

and it's the weekend ...

yes it is !!!

So ... with the arrival of the weekend, comes the weekend challenge for all our friends and followers.

I recently ordered a book through my work place titled "Totally Lost For Words" - creative messages for all occasions written by Kathy Schmidt and Louise Jourdan.

So ... my challenge for you this weekend.

To create a layout using one of the following quotes.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

or you might like to use this quote ...

Your schooling may be over, but remember that your education still continues ~ Unknown

and if you can't use either of those two quotes ... here's another option.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined ~ Henry David Thoreau

Don't forget to upload your layout in the gallery.

Happy creating and enjoy your weekend.

Thursday Challenge

Thursday already???!! I'm still choosing photos for Barbie's sketch challenge on Tuesday! Never mind, I can go back to that. (As can you if you want to win those vouchers at the end of the month.........!)
This week I was challenged to do a layout without patterned paper. I have done this before but truthfully, I've never been happy with the result. Still I think we only get better at things if we keep trying so I had another go and finally I can say I like it!

So 2 choices for your challenge this week..........

1)  Scrap a layout with no patterned paper whatsoever; or
2)  Scrap using a technique you've never tried or never mastered.  (For those observant people you will see I tried one of Mish's paper pattern flowers from last week, so I actually did both challenges..he he!)

Hmm.....the possibilites are endless! Happy creating!

Weekend Challenge - Paper Flowers

Hi All,

Before I started scrapping I was an avid dressmaker - and made all my kids clothes and a lot of my own.  So in saying that I have loads of paper dress patterns stashed away.  I have seen many layouts with paper flowers made from patterns on, so my challenge to you is to create a paper blossom using a dress pattern. I have even given you a step by step to create ribbon roses.

Mother - using only 2 pieces of patterned paper - BellaBella - all my blossoms are made from dress patterns, even the twisted vines, also glimmermist, alphas from a past kit, pearls and a chipboard clock. The leaves are made using a couple of paper blossoms - Prima and BG.

Look forward to seeing your creations

Baby Talk....

Last week I became an Auntie again, I'm waiting for a friend to have her second baby and with all of us waiting for baby news from Marg's daughter, I thought we should all get in the mood and create some baby pages!

Here's a lo of my number 2 DS (but number 3 child!) to inspire you! I did do it a little while ago and the hospital photo is not the best...feel free to show me you can do better! Baby photos are soo cute.......

I see Alison has already gotten a head start in the gallery ..good on you Ali (we must be on the same wavelength) Do you think you could whip up another to go in the monthly prize draw?? I know you have more than 1 child! (lol!)
Here's the link to the gallery.

Happy creating

The Mid Monthly Newsletter

Is on its way...

If you don't subscribe you can read it HERE {shortly when it is archived within about 1 hour}

Your Tuesday challenge ...

I tend to scrap feminine layouts and love to use ribbons, lace, flowers and bling and make my layouts, dare I say it ... pretty.

So this week I thought we would go the other way.

Ladies, your challenge this week is to create a masculine layout.

I want you to dig deep into your stash and find some chipboard and some buttons and pop them somewhere on your layout.

I have journalled on a hidden tag which is sitting under the top edge of my papers.

Our son has a wee part time job - two shifts during the week outside school hours and on the day that this photo was taken he had just come home from an induction with his new uniform - his shirt was straight out of the packet and needless to say, someone he knew grabbed the camera quick smart.

He wasn't overly impressed with me taking his photo and did point out to me his shirt needed to be ironed.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...

Happy creating ladies.
Keep warm and dry.

Thursday's Challenge - back to the beginning

Good morning everyone,

Barbie here, and today my challenge to you is to think back to the reason WHY you began scrapping.  For me it was my eldest daughter's wedding in 2002, boy that was so many layouts ago!

So what is your reason for scrapping, create a layout to reflect the reason why you began scrapping.

Looking forward to seeing your layouts in the gallery.

Have a good day...

Tuesday's Challenge

Well, it goes like this...

Today I had every intentions of creating an example for a layout for a challenge for you..... But whilst cooking dinner last night (browning off my chicken cordon bleu in the frying pan), I splashed very hot - the house was full of smoke hot - oil over my fingers. So now I have 3 fingers on my right hand taped up with burn aid and fixomul to stop blisters and scarring, and am unable to do much with my hand at all... LOL I am typing left handed to do this... do you know how long it is taking me?

So my challenge to you is to scrap an injury!

Looking forward to seeing your creations....

Weekend Challenge

Well the weekend is here once again....and Mother's Day as well tomorrow.

My challenge to you it to create a card or OTP for your Mum or for someone special, if you don't have your Mum anymore.
Just to make it interesting you have to use 4 PP ( this could be both sides of 2 papers)..have to use punches and hand make an embellishment.

I have used Kaiser papers and brad, spellbinder dies, MS punch (which I just love) New Tim Holtz flower die, the stamp is in one of my MM magnetic stamp sets....bit of ink and there you have it.

Have fun and happy Mother's Day to all the Mums. I am hoping for a new Grandbaby for Mother's Day...fingers crossed.

A little creativity in the kitchen ...

Yep, something a little different.

I found time last week to bake one night after work.

I decided to make cinnamon oysters, a first for me and I know a favourite of DH's from way back.  His sister used to bake them many moons ago.

So anyway, I decided to be a little creative in another part of the house and that would be the kitchen and I whipped up these beauties.

A real surprise for DH when he got home from work that night.

So ... my challenge for you ... to scrap a recipe, whether it be a treasured family recipe brought down through the generations; your favourite recipe or whatever or think outside the square a little and scrap pics of your children having fun in the kitchen.

I plan on scrapping this pic and the recipe at some stage.

Happy creating whether it be in the kitchen or your scrappy space.

Tuesday Challenge.....

I thought a colour inspiration challenge was in order, so here is my inspirational picture borrowed this week from We Heart It (thanks Amanda Hansen for sharing!)
 And here's my interpretation!
I've gone with the pink and blue pastels, spots and stripes and also the fun, whimsical side of the room picture and even the little hearts.
So your challenge today is to create a  lo, card or OTP using the room as inspiration. It might just be a colour you choose, or the stripes, or the cake mixer (it could be a food layout....)......or everything about it! Just have fun with it.
Don't forget to enter it in the gallery for your chance to win the monthly voucher. Good luck.
