It's the weekend ... woo hoo !!!!

and with a bit of luck, a little time for some creativity and with a whole lot of luck, that could be more than a little time for some creativity.  I will be a happy camper if that's the case. [Wishful thinking].

Time will tell.

So my challenge for you this weekend.

Some of the DT girls have put a few absolutely fabulous tutorials on the blog recently and yes, I've printed them off and ear marked them for future creativity and I bet I'm not the only one.

So this weekend, I would like to see you actually create one of the creations that you may have seen somewhere in the past, whether it has come from the CPC blog, something you have seen in a magazine somewhere and you've thought to yourself, ooh-la-la, like that idea, might make that one day.  You may have seen a tutorial on you-tube at some stage.

Well this weekend is the weekend to actually do something about it girls .. grab the instructions, look at that you-tube video again, grab your supplies and create.

Don't forget to show us your creations in the gallery, or link back to this post.

Happy creating.
Later,
Michelle [aka Mrs Frizz]

P.S. and yes, I've got something in mind already ...

Thursday Challenge

I've been flicking though some old magazines for inspiration and I came across some fun sketches. Since none of us are finding much time lately for fancy stuff, I thought a nice easy sketch challenge might be in order.
This ones from an older Masters edition of Scrapbooking Memories. Couldn't see any name to credit it to so sorry if someone out there recognises it and I haven't given you credit.
And here's a sample I whipped up earlier... (Actually it was later...barely even Thursday anymore..... oh well, better late than never!)

Tuesdays Challenge

Hi there everyone,

My challenge for you today is to use the last thing you bought to scrap with, chipboard letters and something that has been recycled. Plus anything else you want to add.

On my page I have the newest piece of pp...love it, Marg has just got it in, not sure if it has been loaded yet...a recycled cd and Bella chipboard letters.

Have fun and please share in the gallery.

A weekend Challenge for you

Hi Everyone,

I feel like it has been eons since I have had a chance to scrap - and now with working full time for the next 10 weeks I don't think its going to happen for a little longer...

But if you are still having the chance to scrap - I have a small sketch for you to create from - Adding whatever embellishments you wish, to make it your own.

Don't forget to share in the gallery...

Thursday Challenge

Hi everyone,
My turn again to share a challenge with you.
Last time I showed you how to make a little album out of a manilla folder. This was shown to me by Tina’s daughter Linda. She also shared this, so I am sharing it with you as well…with my twist on it.
This little album is made with 3 pieces of paper. It is best to use quite thick double sided. One of my bits was single sided, would have been better using all double…live and learn…lol.
Ok when you have your 3 bits, cut them into 4 inch strips, being careful to cut evenly.
Put one piece aside for the cover.
Now fold each bit from one end to the other then fold back on each side…as per pics.

You can see that the double bit in the middle is going to be the pocket. Take some good glue and do a slim line across the bottom and up the open side.

Once you have done all the pockets, line them up and work out how you want the order of the pages to be.
Making sure that all the pockets are up the same end, put glue all over the back of the single sheet and stick to the next singe sheet…hope this makes sense….check the pic or send me a message if you are not sure.
Keep doing this until you have used up all the bits….you will have 8 pockets. I added more pockets as I wanted 12 for my birthday book….you can do as many as you want.

Now it is time to do the cover….score the piece you have put aside at 3” then 3 ¾ “ (this may need to be more if you have added more pages) then cut it off another 3” past the last score line.
I added some hinges to mine before I stuck it on, just cause I really like the look…most of the girls that did the album in the shop didn’t bother with them.

Please have a go a share in the gallery…if you have any questions leave a comment and I will get back to you.
Have fun,
Marg. x

Once you are happy with your cover, put glue all over the top of the first page and line it up with your cover….then when it is dry, put your glue all over the back page and line this up with the back cover. The spline will be seem to be a bit big, but once you have decorated and added tags it fattens up.

(To do the hinges, I used some black cardstock with my Tim Holtz Hardware Die, then used his textured hammer to bash it with…then added some on my metallic rubons to create the look I wanted.)

It's Tuesday ...

and time for another challenge to keep you busy this week ...

So - your challenge is a recipe challenge.

The ingredients :

Patterned paper
Cardstock
Flowers
Lace or fibres
Bling
Tags
Ink
Handsewing
Stickers - these could be mini alphas

and ... something that you have recycled that is a non scrapping product.

Method - well I will leave that with you.

You are probably thinking to yourself what can I recycle - well I know that I will be recycling the gorgeous mesh that was from a beautiful bouquet of flowers.  Some of the flowers have seen better days and I have removed them from the vase and tonight I safely tucked away the mesh.

Happy creating - don't forget to upload to the gallery.

Weekend Challenge

"This week I found a few items I have been saving "for good". I know everyone has them so my challenge (to myself and everyone else!) is to use at least 2 of those items on a page!!

I'll be doing mine as soon as i get back from my latest trip away....

Good luck.

Thursday Challenge

Ok covering all scrappers here.

My challenge is to use FELT.  I have used it on a OFF the page butterfly.
It is used in my cup and saucer that I am doing with my craft ladies.
Thought I might share the idea with scrappers.
Cheers,

I would like you to randomly grab 2 patterned papers, 4 flowers, a mixed media title, 6 brads, 3 pearls or bling, 2 punches and 4 photos and create a layout...

Looking forward to seeing what your layout looks like, so make sure you share in the gallery.

off to work now... catch you all soon

Sunday 7 August 2011

It worked!!!!

I saw this done recently and thought I should give it a go....

A) It's cheap;
B) It's fast;
C) It would make a great present; and
D) It uses up some stash!

All you need is a tile (and size, shape or colour....), some mod podge, some scraps of stash and a photo (or 2).
Firstly paint the mod podge on your tile. Lay your base papers on that.
Mod podge over the top and layer your photo **, ribbons, other embellishments.
Do a final layer of mod podge.
When it's dry, you can add rubons or ink.
A final layer of mod podge will finish it all and make sure it all stays, or you could use something glossier to seal and varnish it.

A nice, cheap alternative to a canvas , especially since canvasses are not always available where I live.
Have fun!!!!

Rach xx

** Apparently print your own/home photos won't work as the ink will smudge. (Though I didn't try it - may depend on your ink and your paper and your settings?? Use one professionally printed to be sure!)

Weekend Challenge

The weekend is half over...but better late than never right!?!!?
My challenge to you this weekend is to locate a tile (yes, one of those bathroom or kitchen ones...any pattern.)
And then tune in tomorrow to see what to do with it!

I am going to have a play tonight. Not sure how successful I will be, but it's about time I tried something new I thought.....wish me luck!
