Scrap Factor - Week 6 - One for the GUYS!

Happy GoodFriday everyone!
WOW - we are up to week 6 of Scrap Factor already.
REMEMBER - you can play along at any time, and still rack up the points - the only point you won't be eligible for is the "first in the gallery" point if you don't upload your page by the following Friday, but you can still join in with our Scrap Factor challenges!
OK on to this weeks challenge.

A couple of my all time fave songs are by the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Jack Johnson and Robbie Williams. So this week I thought it fitting to to do a more masculine themed page!
Here is the criteria:
1. Create a masculine themed page - it can be colours, subject, title - however you want to work it.
2. Include a masculine style embellishment on there - I used the cogs on mine.
3. You must include at least two photos for this challenge.
4. X-BONUS - if you include a song title or lyric by a male artist or male band, you'll be eligible also for the X-Bonus points! Make sure you note this on your upload to the gallery.
Here is my page:
SUPPLIES:
PP: Kaiser "On the Move" papers - Accelerate (planes), Take Off (checkerboard), Diesel (grey stripe).
Other: Journaling ticket - Tim Holz, Chip cogs - A2Z Scraplets, Numbers border sticker - Kasier "On the Move" sticker sheet, Foil chip alphas - Bella (have been sanded).

* Completing the layout to the challenge guidelines = 5 points.
* X-bonus (for completing extra music related challenge in your creation) = 2 points. Please state in the notes when you upload how you have met the x-bonus.
* Fast Extra Point (for being first to load into the gallery) = 1 point.
* Double-Up Points (If people complete a second one creation based on the theme - maximum of two entries permitted per challenge per week. The X-bonus applies if you comple that on the 2nd creation too). = 5 points (plus X-Bonus 2 points)
NOTE: Double page layouts count as one for this competition, so you must complete a second new layout for that theme to get the Double-Up points.
So that gives a maximum of 14 points per week to be won, or 15 if you are the super speedy one to get your page up first in that week's gallery! Can't wait to see what you make!
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter break.
Cheers,
Lee :)

Scrap Factor - week 5 - a little bit country

Do you have the Scrap Factor ???

Another week done and dusted and we are now up to week 5 and this week, I think it's time for a little bit of country pop.

And a big country pop singer - you can't go past is a favourite of mine and that would be Shania Twain.

No one needs to know - the title of this layout is the name of one of Shania Twain’s songs.

So, you need to put together a layout along the following lines:

Use a title of a song or you can use lyrics in your journaling

Monochromatic layout in my case I was thinking the barren outback, sandy, dry, dirt

Lots of texture, I’ve used gesso, mesh ribbon, layering, distressing and inking and hessian fabric flowers, note the jute centres, and a little muslin fabric

My hidden journaling which is tucked into the envelope reads : I love to read and what I love to read the most is a soppy romance book, one that takes me to faraway lands, a long time ago.  I can bury myself in an historical romance book and quite happily sit there, lie there or whatever, lose all track of time and keep reading until I am finished.  Sssshhh ... don’t tell anyone.  No one needs to know!

So there you have it ... your Scrap Factor challenge for this week.

Don't forget to upload to the gallery - I can't do the linky thing here as I am a little bit techno challenged and I'm nothing but honest.

(luckily I can jump in and create it for you xxx Mish)

Happy creating everyone.

Tuesday's Challenge

Hi, this is a page I did for the Kraft it up challenge, you can have a go at their challenge as well...

.but I would like you to use Kraft paper, at least 2 photos, some stickers, 3 words in your title, some metal on your page and something that has been in your stash for a very long time...and just for fun, some doodling.

I have used up some Echo Park papers and stickers, zips, metal brad....the things that I have had for ages are the sticker words, the rubons and the quilled flower.

Want to know a secret????/

If you haven't gotten your layouts uploaded for the SCRAP FACTOR competition  - there is still plenty of time....

Even to go back and enter all the previous weeks competitions (the only thing you will miss out on is the 1 point for being the first layout uploaded) but you will still be counted in the competition...

So quick upload your weekly challenge layouts before all the rest of the designers get onto the fact that I am giving you an extension...

Shhhhh!

SCRAP FACTOR - WK4 - HIGH SCHOOL HITS

Now I went to high school in the 80's. (wow that makes me feel old)

And to me the 80's were like WOW!

The fluro colours in the fashion, artist like Madonna in her material girl era was just coming to fame, Cyndi Lauper was someone we all wanted to look like - with her asymmetrical haircut, tulle layered skirts, stockings with holes through them.
It was also a time of the musical movies - Who can remember Desperately Seeking Susan, starring Madonna, Fame (not the modern version) starring Irene Cara, Footloose with Kenny Loggins, Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swazye.

Well my challenge to you for this week's Scrap Factor is to create a layout using a movie from the 80's as your inspiration.

My layout uses the movie Fame as my inspiration.

Now how do I get Fame as my inspiration - well simple - it is someone who has a lot of Fame from her singing career. (way easy)

My layout uses Crate Papers Restoration Collection (available at CPC) Bella Upstairs Downstairs Alphas,

The criteria you must use to complete your layout is:
1. Use an 80's Movie as your inspiration {Fame}
2. Use an white as the main colour of your layout
3. Include some memorabilia on your layout {my ticket from her recent Perth Concert}
4. Include a fact about the person/subject of your layout (mine is subtle - but Taylor Swifts lucky number is 13 { The cards under the title add up to 13} - she writes it on her hand when she performs, she also includes an inspiration line from a song (any artist who inspires her) written in permanent marker down her arm when she performs)

How do you think you will go with that challenge? As per usual the scoring is as for each other week.

Looking forward to seeing your layouts in the Gallery or by Linking them to the blog using the Inlinkz button below

Tuesday Challenge - non-square layout!

Hey everyone!
Hope you are having a great Tuesday.
Todays challenge should be easy-peasy for you to complete - I want to see a layout that isn't square! You could do a rectangle, circle, star, whatever takes your fancy!
I love scrapping in the rectangular 8x12 size, I find it great especially for single photo layouts.
Here is my page:
SUPPLIES:
PP: Echo Park - Victoria Gardens range - "Delightful Doilies"(background), October Afternoon - Farmhouse range - "Phonograph" (grey & cream doily strip), Paper Loft cardstock (the blue)
OTHER: Authentique "Icons" Diecut (stripes under flowers), October Afternoon label (round red with journaling on it), ZVA Creative pearl flourish, Felt Flowers (from the January CPC Kit), Making Memories bling brads, Stazon Black ink (for edging).
Can't wait to see your non-square page!
Cheers

Wk 3 Scrap Factor - Idols

This weeks challenge is to create a layout using a song title from your favourite idol.

Barbie chose to use Elton John as her idol, and created this fun layout using the song "Rocket Man" sung by the great man himself.

And because Sir Elton himself is flamboyant, sparkly and larger than life your challenge is to create a layout with those items in mind.

Your criteria is:

1. To chose your favourite singing idol, and create your layout styled upon them.
2. To use an embellishment that is larger than your photo
3. To use a song title by your chosen artist as the title of your layout
4. To try something new (whether it be a technique, product or the like)

Load your layouts into the gallery HERE or if you are not a member of our gallery you can still join in and upload your layout using the Inlinkz linkie button below

HELP ...

I've been making a few cards of late, sometimes after I put a layout together I will use scraps and make a card with the left-overs.

Unfortunately I've had the need to send numerous sympathy cards around the countryside of late.

So ... I'm looking for ideas, my challenge for you this week is to create a card that could be used as a sympathy card or a hello card. Better still, a card that may not have any sentiment on it when you make it and could be tweaked a little just prior to giving.

How does that sound?
Happy creating.

Wk 2 Scrap Factor - Heavy Metal

Ok all you Scrap Factor Wannabes...this week I wanna see some heavy metal rock!
Your Week 2 Challenge is to create a Heavy Metal Rock Page. The criteria being:

  3.  Use something black on your page, since that's a colour most often associated with heavy metal bands.
Here's my example:
I Wish is a Rose Tattoo hit.

It's the weekend ... woo hoo !!!

and time for another weekend challenge.

Are you ready?

Come on, come and play with us.

My challenge for you this weekend - to put together a layout or a card and use a variety of shapes and just to add a little spice to the challenge as well, you should use a coloured background, some paint/ink/mist and how about some fibres/ribbons/twine.

Sound easy - of course it is.

I've put this layout together to show you just how easy it is.

I've used squares, circles, rectangles, triangles, stars, lots of different shapes.

My circles included in my layers are actually full circles, but you can only see half circles and my triangles make up my banner and my squares and rectangles, well you can see them everywhere.

Happy creating everyone and don't forget to upload to the gallery.
Enjoy your weekend.

Hey everyone!

My challenge to you all is to use Labels (at least 3!) - they can be sticker labels or shipping labels or hanging labels!

I love love LOVE them, and used a heap on this page.

Hope you can join in the challenge!

These are some phone snaps using the vingette filter (hence the bluriness) taken on New Years Eve at the river camp at our friends place.

I have used some of the fabulous Echo Park "Playground" & Authentique "Gathering", October Afternoon "Farmhouse" ranges on this page. The Farmhouse & Authentique items are from the January kit.

Tuesdays Challenge

Ok welcome back after a lovely break, hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for 2012.

Thought I would start the challenges off with one that Barbie has challenged herself to do with each layout she does this year....use her tools and leftovers!!

So you can use how ever many pics and papers you want but you also have to use some tools and leftovers....eg..use your punches, stamps, diecut machines, paints, half used rubons, scraps of papers etc.

I would like you to do a layout and then also a card using the same papers and bits. If you can try to do your card with the same design that you have done on your layout.....IYKWIM.

Have fun...please share in the gallers, we would love to see what you come up with.

Cheers,

Marg xx
