Tuesday Technique

Hi all, my turn to post again. I thought instead of a challenge this week, I would share with you instead (though if you want to have a go at something similar and upload it for everyone to see, of course it can count as a challenge!)

Before I went to Bali I bought a cute little FX chippie from the store so that I could make myself an album to put all my photos in. I went for a premade album cover which is black so then I needed something bright and cheery to remind me of Bali.

So first I painted, lots of different bright colours. While the paint was still wet I added some glitter. Then when it was dry I added some clear dimensional magic to make it shiny.

This is what it looks like on the cover of my album....

Hope this inspires you to do something with your plain chippie!

November Christmas Card Challenge 4 - Use stamps and bling

CHALLENGE 4 - Use stamps and bling on your card!

On my card I have used a Autumn Leaves Rhonna Farrer Bird stamp, the Fundamentals Xmas music stamp, red and cream Bazzil cardstock, and some Kaiser rhinestone strips.

When you make your stamped and blinged out card, upload it to the Chrismas Card Gallery and select the gallery for challenge 4. You have until Midnight Tuesday 30th Nov to get your card image in there to be included in the prize draw.

CHALLENGE INFO:

**** If you have found this challenge just recently, don't fret you can still participate! Just have your card images sumbitted in all four categories in the Christmas Card Gallery by no later than Midnight Nov 30th WST, and you will be in with a chance to win! **********

Every Sunday in November there will be a new card challenge prompt going onto the blog, and for people who complete all four challenges and add your card photos to the Christmas Card Gallery by November 30th, your names will be put in the draw for a Christmas themed prize, drawn on December 1st.

The idea with this challenge is to get a production line going, so as added incentive to make more than one card, for those of you who decide to make at least five cards for each challenge prompt, you'll get your name added to the draw an extra time for each set.

For example, for completing all four challenges and uploading the images to the gallery by November 30th, you'll have your name in the draw. BUT if you say make five cards for two prompts, you'll get your name in the draw another two times, or if you complete at least 5 cards for each prompt, you'll end up with your name in the draw five times! If you are making multiples, you can decide if all your cards will be the same design, or a different design for each one, based on the prompt that is put up. Just make sure we can see all the cards when you photograph them!

Ho Ho Ho!

He's checking his list....

November Weekend Challenge - Make it Little!

Hey eveyone!

This weekends challenge is to Make It Little!

What I mean, is make something that is littler than a standard 12x12 layout. It can be a different sized layout, a card, an ATC, or a bookmark etc!

I've made an ATC - Artist Trading Card. (Don't forget, there is an ART atc swap happening over at the CPC forum, go here to check it out!)

Supplies on my card include: Bazzil Kraft Cardstock, October Afternoon Thrift Shop pp, Kaiser Silver Rhinestone strip and a Bella red brad - all from the shop. The other bits are from my stash.

Thanks for looking, and i can't wait to see what "little" thing you make! Be sure to upload it to the weekend challenge gallery to be added to the monthly voucher draw!

November is almost done and dusted....

Which means time for some sneak peeks of December's D'Luxe Designer kit....

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Thursday Challenge - Christmas Decoration

Ok my turn for a challenge...where did today go? was going to put this in nice and early....better late than never.

How about having a go at making this Christmas Decoration?

Cut 14 @ 2” squares from double sided paper. Roll one end and glue – as per the pic. I held them together with a paperclip until dry.

Punch 2 @ 1” circles. Put plenty of glue on one of the circles and start arranging the points of the papers – check the pic again. One up and one down.

Put some more glue into the centre and stick the other circle over. You will have to press the circles into the glue to get a good contact.

I punched some Snow flakes with a Martha Stewart punch and added with some 3d foam over the circles and then added some bling in the middle.

I then gave it a coat of Glitter Modge Podge, then decorated with kindy glitz…but next time I will kindy glitz first as it didn’t stick very well to the Modge Podge. Was ok when it dried.

Now punch a hole and add something to hang it with.

Please share with us in the gallery, under November Challenge, when you have made it and you could be in the draw for a voucher.

Have fun,

Marg.

Card Challenge 3 - Include punches or embossing (or both!) on your card.

I have used a script Cuttlebug embossing folder, the Fiskars Threading Water scallop punch, and a circle punch on my card. Other supplies include some October Afternoon "Thrift Shop" patterned paper, as well as kraft and cream Bazzil Cardstock.

I can't wait to see your take on this challenge - please share your creation in the Christmas Card Gallery Here, and select the gallery for Challenge 3.

November - ATC (Artist Trading Card) swap "ART" theme - more players welcome!

Hey again everyone,

Just letting you know that there is still time for more people to join in our fun, quick and easy ATC swap!

It is being hosted over on the CPC forum, so please go check it out here: ATC "ART" themed swap

This is the blurb about the swap from the thread in the forum (the fine print info is also listed on the forum thread, so go check it out!):

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if anyone was interested in joining in on a very nice and quick and easy ATC swap, with theme of "ART", interpreted any way you like!

For those of you that are new to ATC's, the term stands for Artist Trading Cards, and are small creations of 2.5x3.5 inches in size. You make a card or cards, and then swap with others.

Basically, all participants make one card, which is then swapped with another person - we don't need to make lots and lots of cards (unless you choose to make more), and you swap direct with another person, so that no one person is responsible for trying to do sorts and things, and postage is a lot cheaper!

Anyway, I was wondering who might like to play along??

I usually make two cards of the same design, one to keep and one to swap, so that is an idea. I have also seen people who make a set of three cards which are then sent to the other peson. Whatever you decide is fine.

If you would like to make more than one card to swap, you can be then put in the swap twice if that makes sense, but your cards need to be different.

Anyway, let me know if you are interested!

Due Date - everyone has until SUNDAY 28th NOVEMBER to put your card image up in the gallery using title "NOVEMBER ART ATC SWAP", and link it back to this thread. All those who put a card in will then be randomly paired up to another person to swap your cards with directly - you make contact with each other by PMing your details to the other person. I would then hope cards would be winging their way to your partner by no later than December 4th.

Hope to see you joining in with us!

and it's the weekend ...

and it's getting a little closer now to Christmas ... just over a month to go ... and that big man in red will put in an appearance.

Hope that you have all been good ... he knows you know whether you have been a little bit naughty or a little bit nice ... and now you've only got a month to improve your stats - lol.

So ... your weekend challenge this weekend and it's not difficult ... to make a Christmas card and some type of voucher / money holder.

You are allowed to use one piece of cardstock, paper scraps and a few embellishments and chances are they are already sitting on your desk.

Here's what I did.

My supplies :

One piece of 12x12 Bazzill cardstock
Scraps of Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses
Fibres
A little Prima bling
Bling brads
Alpha stickers
Christmas flowers
Ink
Punches
Fiskars trimmer
Adhesive

My voucher / money holder is super quick to make up, honestly ... it is!  You may have already seen one before, I whipped up a couple last year.

So ... here we go.

Grab your 12 x 12 cardstock.

Make a cut so that you have two pieces of 6 x 12 cardstock.

Then cut one of your 6 x 12 pieces into two 6 x 6 pieces of cardstock.

Using a piece of 6 x 6 cardstock, fold in half and score - grab your other piece of 6 x 6 cardstock and pop it back in your Fiskars trimmer and sit it on the right hand edge and make a cut ... fold in half and score ... so in other words you have a thin strip.

Ink all edges.

Use your adhesive along the thin strip and stick down on either side of your 6 x 6 cardstock ... the two open raw edges [scored in half] to make a pouch - hopefully that makes sense.

Grab a circle punch and in my example I have punched out three circles, folded them in half and inked them, used adhesive and stuck them down on the left hand side of my voucher pouch to close the pouch holder.

I've punched a half circle punch on the right hand side to make it easier to pop in said voucher or Christmas money.

I've only lightly decorated this Christmas voucher pouch thus far by tying on Christmas fibres, adding a little bling and a Christmas flower and a bling brad.

The recipient's name will added using alpha stickers above the edge towards the right hand side. [sometimes I add tags for the recipients initials].

Now ... how easy was that ... super duper easy.  I know it was, come on ... admit it ... easy peasy!

So too is the Christmas card I whipped up at the same time.

Go back to the 6 x 12 pieces of cardstock and fold and score into three.

Ink all edges.

Using your trimmer cut off about an inch from your front edge and then use a decorative punch for that edge - you can see what I've done in my photo collage.

I've used a piece of scrap Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses paper inked the edge and stuck down on the inside and then the very middle of the card I've left totally blank for my penmanship etc ... you could stamp a Christmas greeting inside if you wanted to.

On my front cover I've used a little Prima bling, fibres, alphas and flowers that I had been using for my Christmas voucher / money holder.

Instead of using your card as a card, before you embellished it, you could turn it the other way and place your embellishments to the right hand side [you are now looking at your card landscape fashion instead of portrait] and then this too could become a voucher / money card.

You could have both the Christmas card and the money / voucher pouch whipped up in no time at all.

So ... before the weekend is done, I hope that you find time to be a little creative and whip up a card and a voucher / money holder.

Don't forget to upload into the gallery into the challenges folder or link back here to us on the blog so we can come and visit and check out your creativity.

I'm away to a scrap retreat this weekend ... woo hoo, lots of laughs, time creating with friends, workshops, a whole lot of food [probably too much] ... all in all a fun weekend.

Later,
Michelle [aka Mrs Frizz]

P.S. and I'm supposed to be 'luging' before I start scrapping ... crikey !!!

Tuesday Challenge - use some Glittery accents!

Todays Tuesday Challenge is to put some sparkle on your page by using some glitter in your creation.

Now although the scan has let me down a bit here, I have used lots of glittery things on my page - the diecuts on the page (house, flower, quote, and scalloped journaling tag) are Crate Paper "Lillian" Glitter Die Cuts, and also the buttons, which are cute acrylic glitter round and butterfly Bitty Buttons from "The Summer House" range by Bella.

Other supplies on this page are Kraft Cardstock by Bazzil, Green Tara aqua flower, October Afternoon alphas, Fancy Pants "Lilac House" range of pp's (Rose Damask reverse side stripe, and Heirloom reverse side aqua - see the What's New section for 11th November in the shop), and the Bella "Sarah Jane" cork scalloped trim.

Thanks for looking, and I can't wait to see how you include some glitter on your page!

November Christmas Card Challenge 2 - use a Christmas Tree on your card

Hey again everyone! Gosh Sunday rolls around quick doesn't i!

Here is Challenge 2 - Use a Christmas Tree on your card

In my example, I made some Christmas Trees using the gorgeous Pink Paislee paper tape. I did this by using a scrap section of cardstock (about 8x3 inches in size), and adhering sections of the two tapes to it in a strip pattern.

Then I cut the triangles out of this section - I roughed out a template from another cardstock scrap which I used for the bigger triangles, the smaller ones were cut freehand. After making the cards from cardstock, and cutting out the small pieces for the tree bases, I just stuck them on and topped them with a Kaiser Pearl.

Some of the trees were smaller, so I decided to use these ones to make the landscape oriented cards. I really like how these turned out, especially as they are christmassey without using traditional christmas colours!

All supplies are available in the shop.

I can't wait to see your take on this challenge - please share your creation in the Christmas Card Gallery Here, and select the gallery for Challenge 2.

**** You don't need to have these cards uploaded each week either to be eligible to be entered in the prize draw - as long as you sumbit cards in all four categories by no later than Midnight Nov 30th WST, you will be in with a chance to win! **********

Lee's Christmas Card Challenge

Hi all,

Thought I would share the cards I did for the Christmas Card Challenge that Lee has going.

We had to make 5 cards using a doily, ribbons or lace and buttons.

I have used up some older BG Christmas paper scraps from my stash (really love these ones) also used a Martha Stewert Around the Page punch, bit of ribbon for the tree trunk and a gold button. Have also used a peel and stick gold Merry Christmas, but that doesn't show up on the pic, sorry, is under the tree on the red.

Folded the doily in half then in quarters...unfolded, cut the middle and refolded from both edges..IYKWIM...if not leave a comment and I will explain better.

Come on join in the fun.

Thursday's Challenge - Altered Chipboard

Hi everyone,

Ready for a Thursday challenge?

My challenge to you is to alter some chipboard and use it on a layout or card.

There are so many things you can do with chipboard……

You could try running it between an embossing folder through your cuttlebug, then use ink, rub-n-buff, glimmermist etc to give it some colour.

Why not cover with paper or material.

You can also try colouring it and then stamping and using embossing powders.

Punch some holes and put eyelets or studs on it.

.

This is a card we did for a class last week using a piece of chipboard, some of you may still have it, as it was in a designer kit awhile ago.

I covered it with paper, then on the back side of it, slit the petals, then flicked them upwards on the front. Love how it turned out...oops the punched edge doesn't show up that well on the pic...if much better IRL..honest.

There are so many things you could do, please have a play and put your end results in the gallery for us all to get some ideas. Please tell us what you have done with your chipboard.

Look forward to seeing what you do,
take care,
Marg.

Spotlight on ...

It's no secret that I totally love Basic Grey and look what Marg has in the CPC shop.

The gorgeous Basic Grey greeting card kit in the Lemonade range.

So I decided to have a play.  Grabbed the kit, my basics, you know what I mean, scissors, ink, adhesive and took it all into work with me and during my lunch break I got a little creative.

Talk about easy peasy and truly it was and I'm absolutely rapt with my cards.

Inside the pack you will find all your bits and pieces all numbered, a project sheet with step-by-step instructions and then guess what ... you go for it.

Now this kit would be absolutely brilliant to take with you to a crop ... it's all there for you.

So here is a wee collage of some of my creativity.  Now admittedly I glanced at a couple of cards and their instructions and thought yep, and so I may have made a couple of 'little' changes as I created ... and wait for it, I even grabbed the black journalling pen for the faux stitching.

Right then, have fun creating ladies.

November Christmas Card Challenge Competition! Challenge 1 - Use a Doily, Buttons, Ribbon or Lace

Hey Everyone!

I'll be hosting a fun new challenge for November to help everyone get their Christmas Card stash looking a bit healthy before the silly season gets into full swing.

OK here we go, hope everyone plays along!

CHALLENGE 1 - USE A DOILY, RIBBON, BUTTONS or LACE

This is a nice easy challenge to kick of proceedings! Here is my example:

This was such a fun, quick and effective christmas card to make!

I made the cards from white Bazzil cardstock. Then I used a small paper doily, and then added a large circle punch of Basic Grey Fruitcake "Yuletide Wintermint" paper. I used the Making Memories Magnetic stamp set to stamp the word Merry on some white cardstock, and then trimmed those to mount another bit of Basic Grey Fruitcake "Yuletide Wintermint" paper. The Merry was then added with some foam tape to give it some lift, and finally the button was added.

So, show me what you can make using a doily, button, lace or ribbon (you can use just one, or all four in your creation) and add it to the Week 1 gallery here.

Have fun!

Time for a Holiday Challenge!!

I picked up this cute Scrap FX chippie title in the shop last time I was at retreat. I really hoped I would get an album made before I went to Bali, but no such luck! Maybe when I get back......

So, since I am currently enjoying a nice relaxing break in Bali, I thought everyone else should remember a nice holiday time as well and scrap it!

I'd love to see layouts, OTP projects, a canvas with your favourite holiday snap....ANYTHING holiday related. Put it in the gallery here
And if you don't have time to scrap about it why not share your favourite holiday photo in the gallery and promise me that you'll scrap it soon! If you do the challenge, or post a  photo and make the promise I just might bring you a wee prezzie back from my little trip as a reward! How's that???
And of course you'll still be in the monthly draw if you get a challenge item uploaded before the end of the month!
It doesn't have to be fancy.....my example certainly isn't! Just have to get through those photos somehow!

All supplies are CPC, including PP: Crate Paper Zoom Collection (dots & cream) & Sassafrass Lass Apple Jack (pattern strips), CS: Bazzil Kraft, STICKERS: Basic Grey "Basics" collection ALPHAS: Basic Grey Oliver collection, with a trusty splodge of glimmer mist for good measure.

November's Challenges Begin!

My challenge to you this week is to create a "Monotone" layout - that means creating a layout using similar colour tones.  You should also try to include some blocking in your layout - grouping photos, embellishments and the like together.  I would also like to see a mixed alpha title on your layout.

Solving the Puzzle - created by Mish

I have used 7Gypsies Annonce paper, which was from a past kit.

Make sure you upload your layouts to the Blog Challenge Gallery  by the end of November to be in the running for the monthly prize voucher.
